Our studio offers the following types of massage by appointment. Call 818-456-5030 or book online.

Craniosacral
A gentle, hands-on approach to bodywork, Craniosacral massage employs a very light touch and achieves excellent results.  The client remains fully clothed during the session.  Dealing with the bones of the head, spinal column, sacrum and the underlying structures, the main objective of this work is to find restrictions and/or compression in these areas.  Once a therapist determines areas of compression and restrictions, gentle, non-intrusive techniques are applied to release those areas.  Good for those suffering from chronic pain, headaches, tension, TMJ dysfunction, arthritis, and stress-related dysfunction.

Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.  The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle.   Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.  People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.

Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique in which specific pressure points (usually on the feet, but also on the hands and ears) are massaged in order to re-establish the flow of energy throughout the body.  It relieves stress and releases energy and pressure throughout the body.

Sports Massage
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity.  The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.   A combination of techniques are used and the strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage.   Facilitated stretching is a common technique.  It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Swedish
Swedish massage uses long, relaxing strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions.  It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body's largest organ, sets up a chain reaction that produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body.  It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well-being.  Swedish massage helps release the body of unwanted strain and stress.  Your body will feel rested and your mind at ease.  If you’ve never had a massage before, this is a good one to try first.
